BOTOX IN DALLAS, TX

Botox is one of the most popular and widely used wrinkle treatments available today. (1) Manufactured under the name Botulinum Toxin Type A, Botox is an injectable that treats facial wrinkles in the forehead region and around the eyes (crow’s feet). By temporarily relaxing the muscles under the skin, the surface appears smoother, softer, and younger. (1) Many of our patients return regularly for repeat Botox injections because they are highly satisfied with the results they achieve through Dr. White’s “Better Botox” method.

Botox produces the best results when it is administered by a trained professional. At USA Plastic Surgery, Dr. Steven J. White and his team are highly skilled in rejuvenation techniques and have refined the Botox procedures to minimize discomfort, personalize treatment, and produce long-lasting improvements.

About Botox

Botox works by blocking nerve impulses to the facial muscles, which then relaxes wrinkles. Botox is a brand name for a substance made from onabotulinumtoxinA, a type of neurotoxin created by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. (1,2) This toxin has been used safely in aesthetic medicine for over two decades.

As we age, our skin loses collagen, elasticity, and volume, making fine lines more prominent. Repetitive facial movements, like smiling or frowning, contribute to wrinkle formation. By keeping the underlying muscles in a semi-permanent relaxed state through injections, Botox not only reduces existing wrinkles but may also prevent new ones from forming. (2)

Botox can also decrease the nerve input to the sweat glands, leading to less sweating. (1)

Statistics show that millions of Botox injections are administered each year globally, (3) making it one of the most popular aesthetic procedures. Its quick application, minimal discomfort, and impressive results make it an attractive option for those seeking facial rejuvenation without surgery.

Better Botox

As someone who receives Botox himself, Dr. White understands the many benefits it offers. He also has firsthand experience of the drawbacks that come with it. Dr. White has developed the “Better Botox” method to overcome these challenges by focusing on procedure personalization and patient comfort. Dr. White meets with each patient personally to fully examine their concerns and identify the muscles to adjust. With this information, he will personalize a patient’s Botox dosage; some patients will receive higher concentrations for more advanced concerns, while others will receive lower concentrations for milder concerns. Dr. White also uses highly concentrated Botox powders, allowing him to use less on each patient to achieve their ideal results, which helps to reduce costs.

Dr. White also knows that the Botox solution can sting. To ameliorate this, he reconstitutes (mixes) the Botox powder with a special liquid that does not cause any pain upon injection. We will also ice the treatment areas before and after injection, and we use tiny, sharp needles (instead of the industry standard larger, easily-dulled needles) and push through the skin quickly to minimize pain. We inject the Botox slowly, allowing for less swelling, minimal redness or bruising, and enhanced absorption.

The Better Botox method gives each patient their own unique “recipe” for Botox. By taking the time to meet with you, understand your concerns, and identify the specific muscles that require injections, we also avoid the “frozen” or “emotionless” appearance that frequently comes as a result of Botox while meeting your goals with long-term improvements.

Patients also attend follow-up appointments, allowing Dr. White to tailor treatment further depending on the results achieved.

Benefits

Botox offers patients a quick, convenient, and effective way to address wrinkles. Under the expertise of Dr. White, our patients see benefits like:

  • Smoothed fine lines and wrinkles: Botox effectively smooths Crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines, enhancing facial aesthetics.
  • Non-surgical treatment: As an injectable treatment, Botox does not require extensive preparation like surgical procedures, making it accessible for many individuals.
  • Quick procedure: The injection process typically lasts less than 30 minutes, allowing busier patients to accommodate treatment sessions.
  • Minimal discomfort: Patients often report only mild discomfort, comparable to a momentary pinch, making Botox manageable for nearly everyone.
  • Flexibility for future adjustments: The effects of Botox last about three to six months, offering a chance to reassess desired outcomes regularly.
  • Refined, personalized techniques: Dr. White’s “Better Botox” method personalizes dosage and injection techniques to each patient while also minimizing any potential discomfort.
  • Preventative effects: Starting Botox early and regularly can delay the development of deeper lines. Using Botox preventatively is also known as ‘prejuvenation.’
  • Wide applicability: Besides cosmetic uses, Botox has medical applications, including treating migraines, excessive sweating, jaw pain, and more.
  • Boosted confidence: Many patients experience an increase in self-esteem and confidence in their appearance.

Candidates

Anyone with mild to moderate wrinkles or fine lines can be eligible for Botox injections. Patients should be in good overall health and keep realistic expectations for their results. Botox is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, anyone with underlying neuromuscular conditions, or anyone who is allergic to the ingredients used in the Botox solution. (2) A consultation with Dr. White will shed light on your eligibility for Botox injections and help you explore your options.

Personal Consultation

During your initial personal consultation, Dr. White will evaluate your medical history, assess the areas of concern, and discuss your aesthetic goals. He may also evaluate the condition of your facial anatomy and skin. This evaluation allows Dr. White to tailor the Botox treatment to your specific goals while addressing any concerns you have about the procedure.

If you wish to enhance your features through Botox, schedule your consultation through our online contact form or by calling (214) 833-6751.

Preparation

As a minimally invasive and non-surgical treatment, Botox does not entail a long list of preparations. However, it is still important to abide by a few key guidelines. Patients should avoid medications or supplements with blood-thinning effects for at least a week before their injection appointment. Alcohol consumption and nicotine use should also be ceased for at least 24 hours before and after your appointment. We ask that you arrive with clean skin and without makeup for your appointment, and please disclose any medications you currently take during your consultation.

Most first-time patients can receive their injections immediately after their consultation, so we do recommend following these guidelines before your consultation as well as before any other injection appointments.

Procedure

The Botox injection procedure begins with the application of a topical anesthetic or ice to minimize discomfort. Using a precise technique, he administers the Botox injections just under the skin. The total number of units required depends on the individual’s skin condition and cosmetic goals. This is done using a very fine needle, which helps to reduce discomfort and ensure greater accuracy. There may be some slight redness or tenderness in the injection site, but this fades quickly.

Patients will begin to see the results of their treatment within a couple of days. Most Botox doses reach their optimal effects within two weeks, and then last at this level for three to four months, although this varies for each patient. (2,3)

Recovery

Recovery from Botox is quite minimal. Most patients experience little to no downtime. Mild swelling and bruising around the injection sites are possible, but this resolves quickly. This is usually a local reaction to receiving an injection rather than a reaction to the Botox itself. It is advisable to avoid heavy exercise, lying down, or touching the treated areas for 24 hours post-treatment to ensure optimal results. Follow-up appointments are often scheduled two weeks after injections to assess the results and determine if further treatment is necessary.

Results

Results from Botox injections usually manifest within three to seven days post-treatment. Patients will notice a softened appearance in their fine lines and wrinkles, contributing to a fresher, more youthful look. Effects can last between three to six months, necessitating ongoing treatments to maintain desired results.

Patients often enjoy a boost in confidence and appreciate a revitalized appearance as an outcome of effective Botox treatment.

Corresponding Procedures

While Botox is an effective wrinkle-reduction treatment, it may not be effective for all patients. Individuals with deep-set wrinkles and other more significant signs of aging may not see the results they desire with Botox injections alone. For these patients, we may recommend a facelift. A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that removes wrinkles throughout the face, tightens the skin, and helps patients achieve a youthful appearance. Additionally, these procedures will make permanent changes to one’s appearance, whereas Botox is only a temporary correction. With Dr. White’s state-of-the-art techniques and meticulous planning, our facelift patients enjoy a renewed look for many years (if not decades), allowing them to enjoy a youthful, refreshed appearance without having to return for touch-up injections.
