A lower body lift, otherwise known as a belt lipectomy, shapes the mid and lower body to restore a tighter look and feel to the abdomen, lower back, buttocks, hips and thighs. Dallas, TX plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven J. White, is a body contouring specialist who often performs this procedure on patients who have lost a significant amount of weight. He carefully and precisely removes loose and hanging skin that sags due to the skin not shrinking back to a normal appearance along with the weight loss. For many patients, this is another planned step in their weight loss transformation to help them complete their final aesthetic dreams. After a lower body lift, patients are extremely pleased with their new body and have a renewed sense of self-confidence.
A lower body lift is considered a major surgery. Patients that undergo this procedure, in most cases, are those who have lost about 100 pounds of weight or more. Our dedicated team performs this surgery on men and women who are close or at their goal weight, and requires that the weight loss be stabilized. The best candidates are those who meet these qualifications, and who have sagging, loose and hanging skin around the stomach, lower back, hips, buttocks and thighs.
"I have been a patient of Dr. White in Dallas, TX and had an absolutely wonderful experience! Words cannot describe the level of quality and attention to detail he provides to all of his patients –He has truly thought of everything for the best possible outcome. I am now a Mom and have an umbilical hernia and diastasis recti from two pregnancies. I was worried my umbilical hernia could become strangulated so I went through the journey to consult with a General Surgeon. I got a CT scan of my abdomen and was told I needed to fix my hernia ‘sooner rather than later’ in effort to be proactive, but I didn’t have a clear understanding of a timeline. I also learned I would need to fix my diastasis recti in conjunction with the umbilical hernia for the best possible outcome. This means the recovery time would be roughly a month in a half. This journey did give me a lot of stress and anxiety as I didn’t know when I should really have this procedure. My youngest is 15-months and I cannot imagine not being able to pick her up for a month. I was really struggling with this decision knowing the risks by holding off for a couple of years. Due to my concerns, Dr. White and the General Surgeon worked together and really helped me feel comfortable with my decision-making process. I decided I was going to hold off on this procedure until my 15-month-old was older and more self-sufficient. I made this decision on my own and I know the risks, but Dr. White really put me at ease with this decision. I walked out of his office feeling like the biggest weight was lifted off my shoulders and I felt at peace with my decision. I will 100% be going back to Dr. White in a couple years to fix my umbilical hernia and diastasis recti. Thank you so very much, Dr. White!"- T.I. / Google / Sep 08, 2023
"Consultation review - his input made me feel much better - My review is about the wisdom of Dr. White’s counsel, not a specific surgical procedure. I had visited him earlier to discuss having an upper and lower blepharoplasty, and his walk-through explanation made good sense. I ended up going to a different doctor for the procedure, however, an ophthalmologist who had recently done a tricky tear duct repair for my wife.I came through my surgery with questions, concerns and some discomfort. Despite assurances from my doctor, I still had some doubts, so I contacted Dr. White just to get his feedback. He was extremely helpful in a number of ways. Above all, he is a good explainer. He simplified the steps I had just undergone and helped me understand its logic. He did point out one or two things he might have done differently but not in such a way as to disparage the other doctor. He also helped me understand why some things did not look good or feel right—yet—but would eventually. Over all, his input made me feel much better. If I ever have any other procedures done, he will definitely be the one for the job."- S. / RealSelf / Aug 24, 2023
"I went to Dr. White at USA Plastic Surgery in Dallas, Texas to get a breast lift. Before my initial consultation with Dr White, I was terrified to have any elective surgery. I was stressed over nothing. Dr. White immediately put me at ease and was fantastic in stepping me through every single part of the surgery and recovery prior to making my decision. He is the most caring doctor that I have met. His bedside manners are superb, and he made me feel at ease from the moment I met with him all the way to the end. His office staff were also fantastic and guided me through every step in this process. I am now 12 weeks post surgery, and as far as the results, they are incredible! Dr. White did a fantastic job in minimizing my scars and providing me with the exact look I was hoping for. I would absolutely recommend Dr. White to anyone looking into a cosmetic procedure, because of his expertise and the way he cares about his patients. He will give you an honest assessment of your potential results, and he has the skills to make them happen."- S.H. / Google / Aug 15, 2023
"I wanted a lift that would look great, and also natural. - I had my breast lift six months ago in Dallas with Dr. White. After years of nursing my kids, I wanted a lift that would look great, and also natural. My husband and I both came across Dr. White after reading reviews and looking at doctors' surgical history. After meeting with him, we both decided he was who he wanted - he is meticulous and listens to any and all of your concerns and wishes. I am so happy with my results and would recommend him to anyone! His staff is wonderful and were so helpful with anything we needed."- K. / RealSelf / Aug 11, 2023

What to Expect
Sometimes called a belt lipectomy, a lower body lift uses an incision that is made around the belt area surrounding the lower torso. This is referred to as a circumferential incision, as well as a lower body lift 360. The incision is extended to the buttocks and thighs. During surgery, our surgeon trims away and removes loose and sagging skin, and uses liposuction to remove isolated pockets of fat. The remaining skin is lifted up and secured with sutures. Several surgical techniques can be incorporated, including a tummy tuck, thigh lift, butt lift and liposuction to complete a full lower body lift. In addition, there are also cases where fat taken from liposuction is reinstated into the buttock to create a fuller effect due to a deflated backside as the result of weight loss.
Lower Body Lift Recovery
In many cases, this procedure will require an overnight hospital stay. The surgery can last 5 to 8 hours depending on the number of procedures performed. The recovery for this surgery is slow. In addition to extensive incisions, the body and skin need adequate time to adjust to their new positions. Most patients can return to light activities within 2-3 weeks, but it could take up to a full year for the final surgical results to appear normal.
